1.08 Crafting Recipes (+ 1.07)

Sweet mother of Cain, those are some fatty loots. Thanks for sharing that link dariustriplet!

This inspires me to get back to leveling my 1.07 hero so I can try my hand at some of these GG’s...

These are the best that I’ve seen - the damage is high enough that Lo might actually out damage Ohm.

Manny They all work on Single Player but you need to do it within the allowed dates of the month. I also read that if you want to have the best possible possibility to role have the most amount of affixes, you need to craft the recipe with a rune that was found in the same game. If you find a rune, save it and leave the game, you can still use the recipe but it won’t get all the affixes.

This thread talks about the \"rune freshness\" situation:

It’s interesting to know it but I don’t really care about min-maxing to that extreme so I would just concentrate on the fun of the craft and try to make the best one you could at whatever time you could afford to make it. It would be difficult to get the runes on the exact date.
It's been a few years since I wrote in this post, but I recently watched Chris Wilson's Dark Pattern video and it reminded me of this. I'm definitely not happy that Deadly Crafts in 1.08 are time based and I would consider this a Dark Pattern. People shouldn't have to worry about a specific date range to make any crafts honestly, and I am happy that they reversed this type of architecture immediately in 1.09. 1.07 didn't have Deadly Craft recipes active so I'm happy it was short lived. The Deadly Crafts themselves are of course not the issue, but more of the time based requirement.

This also reminded me of Pokemon Gold (since I have a save I've been playing on every once in a while) and the Bug Catching contest. I believe it's every Tuesday you can participate in the event. I think for this particular case it's not as bad and it's kinda fun to have that. Having a Bug Catching contest every day doesn't make sense. So when deciding how to implement these features, it definitely needs to be done in a fun, transparent, and non exploitative type of way, of course understanding that you still are trying to make a fun and addictive game (in a positive direction lol - ala D1/D2). Of course "addictive" can be negative depending on the individual and thus each adult needs to be disciplined on how they play and manage their time. As for kids, care needs to be taken .. and this is difficult for them given they are kids and don't really understand the consequences of all of their actions or how society may be manipulating them.

I agree, time based anything in single player is a huge issue, although maybe not as much on the realms. I wish they would have kept the deadly recipes and just disabled the time requirement. But then again, 1.07/1.08 had much better and more interesting crafting overall, they really screwed it up in 1.09 by limiting the weapon crafts to a specific type, so the recipes in general should also allow more base types. The crafting aspect of 1.07 with the bug that allows for 3 sockets and all affixes should have been made a feature. Much better than runewords and more random.

Agree. I am still hoping to cube a CCBoQ one day which does have 3 sockets from the 3 chipped gem recipe. At least we have that one in 1.09!

looks like from closed beta there were some things that was also aspos too happen like 2 skill ring and also thing it was crafted on a day of the week. thought i found a page about it but i don't remember. and all thows rune words then were never put in or taking out before 1.07 hit. thow alot of the 1.07 were meh... but i guess they dint really no how lod was as they are coming from classic 1.06b. even in patch 1.07.41 there some changed items stats and levels... just sad that most people dint under stand crafting and changing it per patch dint help things ether... im guessing arreat summit was made to help with guiding people but even then. ya fan sites poped up all over weather or not the info was right or wrong.. some patches lasted a week or a moth. some not even online.

all removed in 1.09

thing to note is some crafts can mess up and bug out atma if you use it think some rings and boots were causing problems. moving things to other patches also can have problems too. like items removed kinda deal or "bugged" items.

some times its just an error some times it gets removed some time corruption.

Yep, best way to mule is LAN, especially for pre 1.10 patches, as programs like GoMule/ATMA either don't work/have bugs with older patches especially.

And yeah, 1.08 was a very *very* short lived patch. While it did fix some of the most OP stuff from 1.07, the realm version of 1.08 suffered from its own bug where all of the disabled crafting recipes would work. From the 1.09 patch notes:
- Fixed bug which allowed certain Horadric Cube recipes that were meant to
be disabled to continue to function.
The arreat summit and diabloii.net at the time posted all of those recipes. For a time, it was possible to make those class specific crafts where you could roll class skills on crafted rings, among other OP items. Tragically it wasn't very well known, nor were people aware that 1.09 was about to remove all the best items. So then 1.09 hit... only a short time you could get those insane items like Shako/Valor/Windforce and 1.08 crafts. Although many of those items were introduced in 1.07, only 1.08 was available on the realms, so they got called 08 items.

It's a shame indeed. Imagine how much better the game had been if they had kept the focus on rares, crafts, and other randomized items. Instead, they pivoted to uniques entirely in 1.09, then the runewords in 1.10, resulting in every single end game build being the same.

ya good point that some online patch were different then signal player. think singling adds 1.08 runewords? if not think there is a patch for it. i remember playing a ww barb was the meta get to hell cows and easy level im guessing 1.09 i remember a patch came and xp sucked in cows...cant remember if i played 1.08 online or not. i had a copy were i could play for 2 hours and it kicks you off its posable it was a beta but i dont really no. i remember playing in act 5 and a player came and gave me tals orb and lightsaber and tals orb had vary few stats on it same with lightsaber. aslo remember doing a trade my 5life steel helm (think Arreat's Face ) for life steel armour... as life steel was the meta then... (i got ripped off i think) sets were end game and was rare to have. i dreamed of have a full set. i use to collect 1.08 items too i think. it like the game as really in beta test changing each patch. i also remember getting like 5 skill helm easily not this impossible to find stuff... and remember completing normal in singons set...

also posable i miss rember things too so i dont no what to think.
